What is a DBS check?

A basic DBS check is a criminal record check that individuals and employers can request. This is the lowest level check and is available for all individuals and employers living within the UK. A basic DBS will check a person’s criminal history, convictions and cautions from the Police National Computer (PNC).

At APDWS™ we believe that all dog walkers and sitters should have a DBS check as they will more often than not have access to a customers property while they are out. Whilst it is not cumpulsary to undertake a DBS check, it would undoubtedly give your customers and potential customers confidence in you and your business.

If you do have a criminal record and have carried out a DBS check, the fact that you have been open and up front with this would most likely not hinder you as a prospective dog walker.

Here at Association of Professional Dog Walkers & Sitters™ we are here to offer you help and support if you need it..
